E6

his is Maori Language Week!  During Maori Language Week everyone in Aotearoa, New Zealand is encouraged to give Maori Language a go.    In E6 we have been using te reo Maori wherever and whenever we can to help celebrate te wiki o te reo Maori.  We think we are pretty good at doing this any time of the year, but this week we have been trying even harder!

What have we done in E6 during Maori Language Week?
We have sung waiata.
We have greeted each other using te reo Maori.
We have used phrases and words like e tu, e noho
and haere mai ki te whariki.
We have read some Maori Legends.
We practised the Maori version of our National Anthem,
 and our school song.
We are learning to introduce ourselves using te reo Maori.

Watch us singing our favourite waiata of the week - Tirama Tirama (Twinkle Twinkle Little Star).

What great fun we have had using te reo! E6 Super Stars - can you share your Maori language learning with your whanau at home? You might share a song, a phrase, a story or a word! We'd love you to leave us a comment and let us know what te reo you have been using this week.

 Arohatia te Reo!
Live it! Learn it! Love it!

B3 Nga mihimihi

This week is Maori language week and we have been learning different greetings. We all know how to say hello in Maori.  Tena koe is to one person, tena korua is to 2 people and tena koutou is to three people.  We can say good morning in Maori which is ata marie and good afternoon which is ahiahi marie.  Ka pai B3!

B2

Kia Ora For fitness today we played a Te Reo Kori game for Maori language week! It was was a challenge between the Rapeti (Rabbits) and the Kiore (Rats). The boys were the Kiore and the Girls the Rapeti. We were all with a buddy and when Miss Harris called out Kiore they had to try and get to the white line, and the Rapeti chased them. When Miss Harris called out Rapeti they had to run and get chased by the Kiore! It is like the game Rats and Rabbits in English. We had lots of fun and tried our very best to not get tagged. Tino Pai B2! We also learnt the Maori words for some animals. We already knew what a rapeti was as some of us are in that reading group! Happy Maori Language Week Everyone!

 Oma Kiore Oma!

 Oma Rapeti Oma!

We are the Kiore!

Kai Pai Kiore!

We are the Rapeti!

Tino Pai Rapeti!

G4's Equity and Te Reo plays

Last week we began to create plays to promote the value of the week which was equity. However, an extra challenge was added.. we had to use as much Te Reo in our plays as possible! This was quite difficult but in the end all of the plays were presented fantastically and showed both equity and a range of Te Reo. G4rians, leave a comment below sharing how and why you are celebrating Maori Language Week (this could be at school or at home) and their may be a mystery prize for you... PS Keep an eye out for our Twitter updates which are all in Te Reo this week!

E4 Te Tinana

This week E4 has been celebrating Maori Language Week.  We found out the names for parts of the body.  Watch the video below to hear us sing a song about them.  Then look at the picture to see the words.
