Junior Tikanga Club

Every Friday at junior kapa haka the tamariki have been very busy working with Matua Whaitiri.  He has taught us some great tikanga, waiata, and even a haka. The song he taught us is a special one he wrote about a cheeky fantail!
Each week he gives us a homework task, we need to chat to our whanau about different topics and then we get together and talk as a group the next week.

Kapa Haka Exchange 2015

Last Friday the kapa haka went to Waterloo school to participate in our annual kapa haka exchange with Waterloo and Boulcott School. We had a wonderful time seeing the other schools perform! Here we are giving it our best!See if you can spy our new uniforms.

Headbands

Today at Tikanga Club we made headbands!! Kapahaka groups sometimes wear headbands as part of their costume when they perform.  Last week we learnt about the KORU so today we designed our own Maori pattern onto a headband. Lots of us used the koru shape!! Check some of us out below-
