Whakatauki

Whakataukī (proverbs) represent the wisdom guiding the Maori culture. They are commonly used as inspirations in speeches and also as gentle reminders spoken to each other in everyday life. They are poetic expressions of wise sayings which allude to symbols native to Aotearoa

Tou rourou, toku rourou, ka ora te iwi

With your contribution and my contribution we will thrive

Discuss with your class the responsibilities they share as a family/individual, desk group, class, syndicate, school, nation etc

Our school Value is Diversity.  Some classes are talking about this whakatauki (proverb) and discussing how we celebrate the diversity of the 'people' in our class.

He aha te mea nui o te ao?
He tangata! He tangata! He tangata!

What is the most important thing in the world?
It is people! It is people! It is people!
